Today we are getting ready to pre-configure the first of several up-and-coming VoIP systems to be installed in a Dorset care-home.

The requirement for this specific deployment was to be able to roam the entire 35-resident care home spread across 3 floors comprising of individual rooms, self-contained flats, communal areas, office areas whilst still being able to use a cordless handset reliably.

To achieve this, we are installing an intelligent multi-cell Yealink DECT controller with units dotted across the building allowing seamless roaming between each one – Capable of supporting up to 30 base stations, 100 cordless phones in total all making calls at the same time!

To top it off, thanks to South West IT being an OFCOM registered telephony provider, by converting their old expensive ISDN channels to SIP trunks we were able to save them a small fortune in call costs and line rental. They can now handle up to 10 simultaneous phone calls instead of the previous 4 without the cripplingly expensive line rental & call charges weighing them down each month and can add more capacity at any time with the click of a button.
